Here it is! My first Linky Party! I am so excited!
Listening: My husband is a big football fan with 18 teams in Fantasy Football.
Loving: Each Lumosity training session takes 5 -10 minutes a
day and is so fun. I do it 3-4 times a week. And the best part is that it is
free!
Thinking: We live right at the bottom of the hills in Puerto Plata, Dominican
republic. It’s gorgeous! My husband established a workout routine for himself
where he walks up the hill 2-3 times a week. Sometimes our son joins him.
They invited me to go a million times but I kept finding excuses not to. Well,
maybe today would be the day! I can find 40 minutes in my day to do this! Where
are my workout clothes?
Wanting: I enjoy drawing my own clipart, not that I am really
good at it or anything. It’s time
consuming to do it by hand, and it’s hard to do it on the computer using a
mouse. So, I did some research and found this amazing drawing tablet by Wacom. It's called Wacom Bamboo Splash Pen Tablet.
Needing: It’s so funny, but I never have time to do my nails.
By the time I finish doing all the work around the house, school work, etc., it’s
around midnight and how can you do your nails and then go to sleep?!
As far as
fitness is concerned, I promised myself to continue working out at the gym
after my summer vacations were over. So, you already guessed how that went! J
Where to find time???
Memory: I miss celebrating holidays with my family in Ukraine. I'll just keep saving money for that ticket home. Strange, but I still call it home even though it's been 10 years since I left. What would we do without Skype?

Have a nice weekend!
Hello!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog through Farley. It must be fate - I have a student who started after Thanksgiving who was adopted from the Ukraine! I might be asking for suggestions and tips! He speaks some English, understands a little, and I'm working currently with him on the alphabet and numbers, since the systems are so different. I would love any tips or suggestions to help him out!
Please come check out my blog as well! :)

Hi Chrissy,
ReplyDeleteYep, quite a coincidence. :) I'd love to help you out in this challenging situation. You are doing all the right things. In addition, to that, try to connect with your student and incorporate aspects of his culture into your plans. Your super cute Winter Olimpics Unit will come in handy! As you know, Sochi is a Russian city, and both Russia and Ukraine used to be a part of a Soviet Union. There is a very strong bond between the two countries and he can certainly relate to that.
Also, try to use a lot of gestures, visuals, and manipulatives to enhance his understanding of some complex concepts.
And finally, maybe giving him some extra grammar practice and reading would also help.

Best of luck in the New 2014!

Hi Jordan,
DeleteThank you very much! I just visited your blog. What a great Chistmas tradition you guys have! I am thinking to use it myself for my family. :)
Congratulations on your engagement! Love that ring!
Lumosity is a brain-training program full of fun games. It's so entertaining and challenging at the same time. You train your memory, sharpen your math skills, etc.

Hi Lizzie,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind words! I am also relatively new to blogging! There is so much to learn... But we'll get there :)
If you have a blog, send me a link, I'd like to follow you.
Best wishes for the New 2014!

Finding time to exercise is always my downfall when it comes to being healthy. I started running a year and a half ago, but in the winter it's hard due to the weather and the lack of day light. Hoping to make it a top priority in 2014!
ReplyDeleteThe holidays went by way too fast, can't even believe that the New Year is here! Good luck to you in 2014!
Found your blog through Currently! Would love for you to head over and check out my blog…

If You Give a Teacher a Treat
Sorry I misspelled your name. It was a typo.
DeleteHi Lidsay,
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by. Just like you, I enjoy running. I used to do it 3 times a week. I would run to the gym, have a workout and then run back home (about a mile both ways). I was in a great shape then. However, I had to stop running due to the herniated disc problems. About a year later I got back to the gym, but I just walked there and back. It's been a few months now without any sort of phisical exercises. It's one of my New Year's resolutions to get back to the gym. :)
I just visited your beautiful blog. I love your family pictures! Thank you for the opportunity to get your Activity Pack for free. I am heading there now!
Happy New Year and Happy Blogging!
